My results included 145,360 items! Even an avid reader like me wouldn’t even be able to put a dent in that reading list.

Then I ran a search for “small business plan”. This time my results included only 2,928 items. ONLY? That’s still about 2,927 more than most people will read! That’s why I did this book review.

Picking the wrong book to read on creating a small business plan can sabotage all your efforts and hard work.

Creative? Intuitive? Visual? Then you should read this book

I’ve stopped counting the number of times an entrepreneur has told me that business plans are a waste of time. Or that they only did one to get funding.

Traditional business plans may not add value to you. That does not mean all business plans will fail you.

See this picture on the right? That’s my business plan. I created it using The Right Brain Business Plan™ book by Jennifer Lee.

Jennifer was a successful corporate executive before leaving and starting her own business. Her book, and her whole philosophy, embraced rather than suppressed her creativity and quirkiness. The result was a book that opened up effective business planning to a entire group of people – Right Brainers.

The Numbers Whisperer™ gives The Right-Brain Business Plan™ 5 Stars, our highest rating.

I’ve had the chance to interview Jennifer Lee not once, but twice! She is truly an amazing person, and I encourage you to check out both of them. Read my blog postQ&A with Jennifer Lee. Listen to my radio show interview with Jennifer Lee.

The Results

Here are some of the great results that my clients have achieved by implementing my advice.

 CLIENT #1

Client Industry & Title: Offline B2C services company – Co-Owner
The Problem: Lower than expected profits on B2C services
The Solution: I identified two profit black holes that could quickly and easily be plugged
The Result: Immediate profit jump of 20% for new business

 CLIENT #2

Client Industry & Title: Owner of multiple online niche B2B businesses
The Problem: Needed to determine viability and profitability of new business venture.
The Solution: I determined the ROI (Return on Investment) of the potential venture was extremely low. Yet there was an underlying value to my client in doing small pieces of the business. I recommended a solution that would achieve the desired non-monetary goals using one of their existing businesses.
The Result: I saved the client thousands of dollars in start-up and maintenance expenses, time and distraction AND still acheived desired side benefits.

 CLIENT #3

Client Industry & Title: B2B Copywriting Services – Owner
The Problem: They didn’t have a clear pricing structure or even a focused product
The Solution: I created an easy to understand and update pricing model for the client, explaining what would be necessary to achieve their profit goals.
The Result: The client discontinued underperforming business to focus on those which meet their profit needs and are now on track to meet their goals by the end of the year.

Plus in every case my clients smiled, chuckled, laughed, and even guffawed (yes guffawed!) during our sessions.

Sometimes, when you’re too close to the problem, it’s difficult to see the solution.
